As you may have noticed, the website design and logo is new. The old design felt unfinished, especially the homepage – which it was – and I was never really happy with the old shield logo either. So, this weekend I did something about that. The new frontpage design shows my latest free themes, main features of all my themes, people’s testimonials and a few featured themes. The logo shows the initials AA, for Alexander Agnarson. Simple, but does the job.
I’ve also worked on and finished 3 new free themes during the last month.
- Timelines is a flexible magazine theme with double sidebars, sticky year labels and front carousel. Includes dark mode, any accent and background color. The post single view is a bit inspired by the design of Steam.
- Typeflow is a small personal blog with the same sticky year feature. Includes dark mode, any accent and background color.
- Blogcards is a blog theme with focus on large featured images. Each post is made to stand out with large text and big “blog cards”. Includes dark mode, any accent and background color.
The free themes have now reached the count of 48. I hope you’ll enjoy these new themes as much as I enjoyed creating them.

I started using Anew when it was still free, then purchased Agnar (which later became Readspec v1) on Themeforest, then went back to alx.media to repurchase Anew, and later also used Grayzone and Unity (which I’m currently using).
Grayzone is my second favorite theme, but it’s unfortunate that it doesn’t have a Dark mode. Is there any hope for a Dark mode to be added?
Anew is still my favorite theme to this day (although I don’t know why it was taken down), because of its color combinations and the most complete WordPress post-formats, which were shocking and perfect back then. In my country, many WordPress theme developers sell themes with the most basic post-formats implementation at exorbitant prices.
Thank you for your hard work, they are all great.
Thanks for supporting my work throughout the years Conners!
Anew was discontinued because of the post formats – wordpress dot org did not allow for those meta fields to be included in the theme. So, the only possibility for me would be to create a separate plugin and maintain that for the theme to work. I instead decided to remove it, as it was too much work.
Glad to hear you like Grayzone. Dark mode requires quite a bit of CSS work, but I’ll think about it. It would’ve been a nice feature to have for that theme.
I’m delighted to receive your response.
I understand that implementing a Dark mode would involve significant effort, and I don’t want to overburden you with additional work. If it’s too much of a hassle, please feel free to set the Dark mode request aside. I’m currently enjoying a very positive experience using Unity.
Hi Alexander! Are you planning to create new magazine topics? I really like your designs.
Hi Andrew! Glad to hear. I’m taking a bit of a break from theme-making at the moment. But when I get back into it, I’ll definitely consider making more magazine themes!
Andrew, I made a new magazine theme. See if you like it: https://agnarson.com/wpthemes/clearer/
I really like it. I especially like that there is a style changer (light and dark mode). We know this caused more CSS work for you. Thank you!
Good templates! Im making my first site in Germany jobcenterhelp.online Thnx for your work and happy new year!
Alex, you are doing the community a great deal of service! I actually love your themes more than so many paid/premium ones. Can’t find paid ones that have the visual taste as your themes.
Thanks a lot Anh! Makes me so happy to hear 🙂
